Account Information

When you create a Shiksha Setu account, we collect your full name, email address, college/university name, city, and the career path you select (corporate or government). This information is required to personalise your preparation roadmap.

Usage Data

We automatically collect data about how you interact with our platform — pages visited, features used, quiz scores, time spent on modules, and assessment results. This helps us improve your personalised recommendations.

Voice & Interview Data

If you use our AI mock-interview feature, audio is processed in real time to generate feedback. We do not store raw audio recordings. Only the transcribed text and AI-generated feedback are retained to track your progress.

Device & Technical Data

We collect your browser type, operating system, IP address, and device identifiers for security, fraud prevention, and platform optimisation.

Personalisation

Your profile, assessment results, and usage patterns power the AI engine that generates your study roadmaps, practice questions, and job/exam recommendations.

Platform Improvement

Aggregate, anonymised usage data helps us identify where students struggle, which content needs updating, and how to make features more effective.

Communications

We may send you emails about platform updates, new features, reminders, and career opportunities. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time from your account settings.

Security & Compliance

We use your data to detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or misuse of the platform, and to comply with applicable Indian laws and regulations.

We Do Not Sell Your Data

Shiksha Setu does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. Period.

Service Providers

We share data with trusted service providers (cloud hosting, email delivery, analytics) who process it on our behalf under strict confidentiality agreements. They cannot use your data for their own purposes.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government authority, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Shiksha Setu, our users, or the public.

Encryption

All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using TLS 1.3. Sensitive data at rest is encrypted using AES-256.

Access Controls

Access to user data is restricted to authorised personnel on a need-to-know basis. All access is logged and audited.

Breach Notification

In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities within 72 hours as required by applicable law.

Access & Portability

You may request a copy of all personal data we hold about you at any time by contacting privacy@shikshasetu.in.

Correction

You can update most of your profile information directly from your account settings. For other corrections, contact us.

Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and associated data. Some data may be retained for up to 30 days in backups before permanent deletion, and certain records may be kept as required by law.

Opt-Out

You may opt out of non-essential communications at any time through your account settings or by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email.

Essential Cookies

We use session cookies required for authentication and basic platform functionality. These cannot be disabled.

Analytics Cookies

We use analytics cookies to understand how our platform is used in aggregate. You may decline these without affecting core functionality.

Shiksha Setu is intended for students aged 16 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the 'Last Updated' date at the top and, for material changes, notify you by email or an in-app notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect.
